It was the Bear and my 8th Wedding Anniversary yesterday. Did we do anything exciting you ask? No, poor Bear was asleep on the sofa for most of the day, battling the flu that the rest of the family (including me) had passed on to him. Now, that’s love for you! We did have a romantic dinner ‘in’ on Sunday – takeaway Nepalese once the kids were asleep, along with grown up conversation. Even though I’m very big on ‘family’ dinners, it’s nice to have one with just the two of us occasionally.

Now, I couldn’t let our Anniversary pass without at least making my beloved a card, so I did. I’m a bit short on inspiration at the moment (those cold germs are still hanging on and clouding up my crafty mojo!) so I headed on over to CASE Study to see what the challenge was for this week. I loved the layout of the card, so I used that to inspire mine. And because there was a bird on Jill Foster‘s beautiful card, I also decided to use my Two Step Owl Punch, because it’s been a bit neglected lately, and we’re a nerdy owly couple!

It’s a fairly straightforward card – most of the time was spent on backstitching around the edge of my card and the owls! I do love playing with the owl punch.

Just a quick explanation on how I made the sentiment. I cut out my circle in Very Vanilla using the Big Shot, then stamped my sentiment. I then inked up the scallop circle type stamp from Printed Petals in Versamark and stamped over the top of my sentiment and clear embossed it. Now that the sentiment was protected by a cute little ‘doily’ shape, I could brayer over the top of my circle with Crumb Cake ink. The embossing just gives the card that little ‘touchy feely’ textural touch that I love on special cards.
