While I was away on the Inklings craft retreat I got to play with lots of stamp sets I don’t yet own. Bella Toile is one of my favourite background stamps from the new catalogue, and I was so excited to be able to use it for a colour challenge!
Jane asked us to make a card using one of the new ‘colour coach’ suggestions on page 5 of the new catalogue. I chose Elegant Occasions – Baja Breeze, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla and Basic Grey – but decided to keep it simple by just using Baja Breeze, Soft Suede and Very Vanilla. What do you think?
- Stamp Sets: Bella Toile, Friends 24-7
- Ink: Soft Suede, Baja Breeze
- CS: Very Vanilla, Soft Suede
- Big Shot Accesories: Ovals Originals Dies
- Other Accesories: Light Blue Circle Ice Rhinestone Brad
You might notice that instead of pleating ribbon as a feature on my card, I’ve used the Soft Suede cardstock. You might also notice that the cardstock looks sort of soft and textured. This is called suede effects. What I’ve done is pulled my bone folder along the cardstock (the same way you would pull scissors along curling ribbon) and eventually the paper fibres break down and you can peel two layers apart. It makes the cardstock much more pliable, and gives it a softer look, which I thought suited my ‘elegant’ card.
Thanks for taking a peek today!
